Recently, staff from the Hangwan Branch of the State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company arrived at the renovation site of the Lime Kiln section in the Jiangnan Industrial Park, Andong Town, Ningbo Qianwan New Area, to perform live-line pole installation operations on the 10 kV Qianjiang B373 line. It is worth mentioning that this was the first time in Ningbo that the suspended insertion method was used for live-line installation of a straight-line pole.
On-site, workers clad in insulating clothing were elevated dozens of meters into the air by an insulated aerial lift truck. They meticulously performed a series of operations, including insulating and shielding the high and low-voltage lines in the work area, and checking for live electricity. This created safe conditions for the hoisting and installation of the new pole, ensuring continuous power supply during the operation and no impact on electricity usage for surrounding customers.
Ground crew coordinated closely through division of labor, directing the crane to safely hoist the new pole wrapped in insulating blankets. They slowly adjusted its position and angle, precisely lowering it through the already insulated and shielded high and low-voltage lines into the predetermined location. The project renovation involved electrical issues such as pole and line relocation and temporary/permanent power supply. To avoid affecting the electricity usage of surrounding businesses and residents through power outage construction, the Hangwan Branch specifically chose the live-line pole installation method. Utilizing technical measures like live tension stringing and bypass systems, they completed the pole installation without any power interruption. The entire operation was strictly carried out in accordance with relevant standards and regulations. After nearly four hours of intense work, the new pole was successfully erected, and the electricity supply for over 100 households and businesses on this line was completely unaffected.
"In the next phase, we will continue to adhere to the principle of 'using live-line work whenever possible instead of power outages', persistently strengthen the development of our distribution network live-line work team, further enhance the level of live-line work, improve power supply reliability, and maximize the achievement of 'zero perception' from users and 'zero impact' on power usage during operations, fully ensuring worry-free regional electricity supply," said a relevant person in charge from the Hangwan Power Supply Branch.
